No matter what you do, what you serve, how good it tastes, there will always be that ONE person who isn't happy with the portion size, missing salt or too much salt... So the best thing to do is make sure YOU are happy with your selection and that every bite is worth it!

Here in Trogir the tradition is to serve three courses and desert in the end. The three courses are always risotto (''black'' with cuttlefish and ''white'' with veal), pašticada with homemade gnocchi and lamb on a spit . Many still prefer the traditional way of serving a wedding feast because ITS TRADITION, but younger generations are mixing it up a bit by serving meals that aren't typical for a wedding like offering a buffet style with choices.

With the influence of working abroad and traveling they have acquired new taste buds, which in a sense has changed the gastronomy offer in general, therefore making it possible for weddings to have different styles and demands: vegan, bar-b-q, pasta, hors d'oeuvres, wraps.... You can literally serve the food you like and want to eat but also satisfying all your guests with offering choices.

Tradition

You can always stick to tradition, either switch it up and use the domestic tradition to meet new dishes and introduce your guests to new ones or you can bring your own tradition to the table. Or maybe you can mix it up and just use a traditional desert from your home country to keep the connection - or vise versa, make your own menu but introduce yourself to a domestic desert like Splitska torta.

Mix it up

For the beginning you can offer small bites before the main course like prosciutto on slightly toasted bread with a sprinkle of capers or shallot, mix it with a salmon choice. Or small baby burgers with meat paddies and chickpea paddies.

Main course can be grilled fish with swiss chard and cooked potatoes, and as a second choice grilled meat with baked potato halves. Of course a side of fresh arugula and baby tomatoes.

The desert can be a three tire cake each tire its own flavory mix. Maybe side with fresh fruits that are in season...watermelon...strawberries...peaches...

With this you can still have a touch of the local feel with the fish and Mediterranean herbs and smells but also for those who aren't prone to change a little classic offer of meals.

Do something new

Do you like burgers? Pizza? Make it your main course. Do you like pancakes? (although id recommend crepes), donuts? Make it your desert! How bout a tapas bar? Maybe you like the meat ball without pasta so you can serve meatballs on a stick? Maybe you love, love, love dip - of course your going to add dip and a million things to dip with!

What do you like to eat? If you don't want to force people to eat you favorite meals (we all have different tastes) you can always add a few options, the law of numbers will fall in your favor, but of course there will be ONE, no matter the choice, who will have ''something to say'' about the menu, so don't sweat it, you cant please everyone and the most important person to please on your wedding is your self, so go for it!!!

Ok, I'm hungry now, so that's a wrap!

xoxo
