1. PAPER WORK
A lot of paper work that will have to be done for the wedding, therefore having enough time to sort out the bureaucracy and connect the institutions you will need for the day - being a church wedding or government wedding - requires a certain amount of correspondence before getting the paper work done.
TIP: Use a domestic person who speaks the language to guide you through and save precious time!

2. ACCOMMODATION
Either it be a small wedding of 20 or a larger one of 80, you need to assure your guests they will be situated near the wedding location. Referring back to #1 the date plays an important role here due to the fact that summer seasons are booked early and off season spring isn't far from summer, so not to have your guests scattered through a huge area, booking their accommodation (or advising them to do so) is of value.
TIP: Use platforms such as Airbnb to narrow down an area with housing so you can advise your guests where to book.
3. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION
Maybe even before the paperwork, the most important is location. Everything about the day depends on where the wedding will play out. This connects the dots - photographer, band, flowers, catering - once you have the location you can go on to booking the rest.
TIP: If its an area around town or housing compared to a secluded are it is important to have in mind that your wedding will be able to play out only to a certain time in night.

4. BAND VS. DJ
If you are having a wedding in a foreign country, then you will need local help to find a band that will sound good. The band will need to follow your repertoire, and it is important to be satisfied in the end. The idea to use local help to find a band that is diverse - most local bands will be adjusted to local music - or compared to a DJ who can plan with you together a list of songs you want on your wedding, is crucial in planing the music category.
TIP: Most local bands that play offset are cheaper than a band that specifically plays at weddings, and in some cases sound better. A DJ is always a safe choice, because you can determine the flow of music down to the last song.
5. DETAILS
One of the funnest parts of the wedding is planning the small details, like flowers, props, lighting etc. Keep in mind that if you are in a foreign country, you might not be able to get hand of all the ideas you had in mind for the wedding. If you want props, don't be so sure you will find them in a local store - you will need to bring them in your suitcase - as well as flowers keep in mind ''on and off'' season flowers. If you are planning your wedding in a small town than without ordering in advance and paying extra, you wont be able to have ''your'' flowers.
TIP: Once you have your location, you can mail certain things to the address before the wedding, as well as do some online research before choosing a flower.
And that's a wrap!
