A must have wedding photo HAS to be the cutting of the cake, right?

Back in the day, the wedding cake presented how glamorous or posh the wedding was, the higher-the better. I'm sure it cost a pretty penny too! It didn't matter that half the cake would be thrown away, or if it was half on the floor after the ''cutting'' of the cake. It had to be the center piece of the wedding.

Well, today i wouldn't say that it is a less important detail than any other, but it is definitely presented in a different way today. Here are a few popular ideas for the CAKE of the wedding.

1. Simplicity

Any baker who does wedding cakes will tell you that no cake is simple, but for the sake of comparison lets say a simple version of a wedding cake would a cake with not too much detail, simple like one flavor, one color.

Usually there is one wedding cake followed by a few smaller ones for guests to choose.

2. The sweet station - Candy&cake buffet

Growing in popularity is the sweet station. It can be a combination between donuts, small cakes/bites, cookies, candy etc. This sometimes eliminates the cake cutting because the table is open to guests to take a sugar kick when needed. Its great because they can use it any time during the reception.

Another cool idea is a ice-cream station, or candy station where you can mix&match your own desert, yuuuuuum.

Its only optional to eliminate the cake cutting, you can do both of course - the sweet station can be opened during desert time.

3. Fruit table & cocktails

A wonderful option for summer weddings! Fruit in all sizes and combinations - served in cups or plates for grabs when you need a refreshment. Of course what better to serve with fruit than a cold cocktail!? This is a great idea for before the reception as well, instead of welcoming drinks/snacks you can serve fruits&cocktails - a great way to start the evening!!

Either way, whatever you decide, your wedding has to have cakes & sweets & cakes & more sweets.... whether you cut the cake in a traditional way or not!

And that's a wrap!
